No fue un fichaje cualquiera: Pep Guardiola, más fiel al anhelo de perfección que a la supuesta pureza del estilo, intentó convertir su proyecto en una maquinaria infalible añadiendo un matiz que les permitiera derribar, desde la tierra y desde el cielo, los muros que comenzaban a elevar sus mejores competidores. Sabemos cómo acabó la historia. Ibrahimovic fue, posiblemente, la primera gran víctima de la excelencia de Xavi y de Messi. Tras su marcha, el club radicalizó su apuesta y optó por jugadores consagrados al colectivo. La amenaza autosuficiente de hombres como Zlatan, Ronaldinho y Eto´o dejó paso a los Villa, Pedro y Alexis, jugadores validados por su adecuación al sistema. Más aún, jugadores como Cristian Tello, explicables únicamente por su adecuación a Messi, se convirtieron en protagonistas asiduos de la delantera del Barça. Hablamos de atacantes que no amenazan al rival por sus condiciones específicas, sino por su contribución al colectivo. Hace varios años que el estilo, mal entendido, se ha convertido en una losa sobre la espalda de los futbolistas, pero, ¿en qué medida un nueve complementario, ajeno al discurso dominante, concesión a las supuestas ventajas de colgar balones al área, contribuiría a mitigar la carga de una idea gastada solo por el uso? Al Barça no le ha ido mal los últimos años, pese a ocasionales varapalos, con su estrechez de miras. La solución, desde mi punto de vista, no pasa por contar con un “Plan B”. Hay que soñar de nuevo con la idea. Matizada, renovada, flexible, adaptable y, si se quiere, renacida, pero siempre radical en lo que la hace viable. Siempre a ras de suelo.
